Mandala

A collaboration with ABARI Nepal and Guru Chogyal Rinpoche

Nestled in the bosom of the Himalayas, the Mandala is a Buddhist Monastery for his highness Guru Chogyal Rinpoche and his disciples. The project was initiated during my professional engagement at ABARI in Nepal, and since then I have been centrally contributing to its design and execution.

The Monastery would be the only one of its kind in the country which, as envisaged, would exemplify a spectacular confluence of the traditional Himalayan architecture and modern engineering. ABARI is a design and build studio which works in unison with the indigenous communities of Nepal, co-producing unparalleled modes of artistic, tectonic and social experimentation and vision.

If you wish to visit the monastery, hit me up!

Mahamudra Hall is made of six layers of roof supported by handcrafted bamboo, forming a mandala-like truss that is 16 meters high, making it one of the tallest bamboo structures in South Asia.
